BIBLE BOBBLE-HEADS

I'm curious to hear what some of you think about this. Faith night at minor league ballparks is becoming more and more popular. The skeptic in me says that it's just a way to get more fans to the ball park. I know our church has an annual night out at the ballpark and so does a men's ministry I support. What do you think?

Not a problem in my opinion.....just another opportunity to give some non-following friends some exposure to the Christian way. A lot of times the collaborting sports team contributes some of the gate or 50/50 raffle sales back to the attending organization, so it could be a fundraiser as well.

Consumerism is everywhere in the church...

We had to make an announcement that we won't make announcements for pampered chef, mary kay, etc. parties in ABF anymore.

As a believer I'm trying to somewhat mortify my sin of consumerism...and I think we need to do a better job of communicating that in the church. It's okay to do things to reach out, but before we do it we need to communicate clearly that it is for reaching out...otherwise we could be stumbling a brother or a sister into buying into a sin they are trying to kill. I think something should also be said by the leader or pastor...something to the extent of..."if you sinning in your consumerism in our culture please don't take this as an opportunity to indulge yourself further in that sin...rather use it to reach out to another, and then when you get them there talk about the cross!"

There's probably a lot more that could be said. I don't want to steal Christian liberty and joy for that matter, but we do need to be disciplined...I should say...I need to be more disciplined:)

In Christ
Noah
